Trovaire's 'Days Like These' single release

The third single off the Trovaire album is out in the world. Given it's been quite some time since I heard it (and feels like a lifetime ago that we wrote it), it was fun hearing the opening ambience of "Days Like These" starting with the actual sounds of Stonefruit itself.

The album title "The Stonefruit Sessions" is named after the local bar and restaurant in rural Tenterfield in Australia, where we would spend mornings and evenings over coffee, discussing records, and eating amazing food. And in this case, also recording the sound of the venue itself (something you can hear weaving through the album on tracks like "Breaking Sunday" too).

Listening back after some time, I can say that it's a lovely track, and features Kleidi Buroz on vocals once again (who also sung on "Oh How Lovely"). The rest is the other half of Trovaire, Dennis Gascoigne, on jazz guitars and piano, and myself on bass guitar and drums (plus that crusty Moog we used on "To Leave The Sea"). All lovingly mixed down by our friend Tony Espie (who we met through his excellent work mixing The Avalanches) and then pressed to vinyl care of our new friends over at Suitcase Records in Brisbane.

In the scheme of things, this will be a blip on the radar of music made in this century, but for us, it's a beautiful little moment that captures the sounds and the vibe of the local community there.

As a side note: it's somewhat meta to think that "Days Like These" is on the "Stonefruit Cool 2024" playlist that Stonefruit themselves both maintains and plays in the venue... so there's now recordings of Stonefruit echoing through Stonefruit itself.
